I’m Jessica! I don’t think we’ve met before!
ELLECTRIC! I MISSED YOU! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONE!
I missed you too! I’ve been so bored, I wouldn’t leavee you!
Good! Because if you left me I would be very, very, very, very upset!
Jess! I thought everyone had disappeared off the face of the Earth.

ELLECTRIC! I MISSED YOU! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONE!

At the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
Twinnieeeeeeee!!! I miss you! Well,I’m kinda sad.
Why are you sad?! What’s wrong?! I miss you too! What happened?!
Jessica blushed softly as Heather gave her the spotlight. She immediately wanted to shrug off the attention and make Heather sing all day long! But then she remembered this wasn’t about her and this was about cheering Miss Heather all the way up, up, up. She picked up the ukulele and played a few notes, making sure it was tuned correctly, which is was. Why would she even question something in SHH? Everything was perfect!
She paused for a second, wondering what song she should play. She wanted to impress Heather but all the songs she sand to impress people were usually depressing songs from a woman scorned…and that wasn’t the kind of thing that made people have a better day. She bit her lip and then it hit her! The song she had sang last year at the charity festival her school had. It was the perfect kind of song and it always brightened up her day.
Jessica grinned wide as she began to play, swaying herself and the ukulele as she closed her eyes and began to sing,” Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older, and we didn’t have to wait so long? Wouldn’t it be nice to live together? In the kind of world where we belong?…”
(The song is thiiiis!)
Heather grinned when Jessica started to sing, tapping her finger to the rhythm of the song on her leg. She wasn’t exactly sure how she felt about the other girl’s voice at first, to be honest. But as she kept singing, it grew on her, and she decided she actually liked it a whole lot. It was different, and she liked Jessica’s brand of different, as she had proven a million times over. It was something infectious about the other girl’s personality.
She grinned and clapped quietly when Jessica finished, whistling softly. She didn’t want to get in trouble in case they weren’t actually supposed to be in here. Heather didn’t want to deal with that today. “That was fantastic, Jess!” she said, giving her another grin. Something about music just softened Heather up, especially in moments like this. It was a good thing and a bad thing, but she liked it for right now.
When she had finished singing a light blush had crept permanently onto Jessica’s face. She looked down, smiling at Heather’s feet, unable to meet her eye. She held onto the ukulele and laughed softly, “Thank you, Heath.”
She looked up quickly, noticing that Heather no longer looked like a vague grey blob but was now filling up with some yellowish light. Jessica knew that she was getting happy, when people were happy they appeared to be bright and yellow and gorgeous and Heather was almost there. She nodded her head triumphantly as she placed the little instrument on her knees.
“So, what should we do now?”

My ukulele teachers!
Jessica’s voice hung open in shock and amazement as Heather sang. All she could think was, UNFAIR! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS SHE DOING AT SHH WHEN SHE HAS THOSE PIPES?! WHY ISN’T SHE TOURING AROUND THE WORLD?! WHY ISN’T EVERYONE LISTENING?!
But she calmed herself, just keeping her jaw slack as the words and the heavenly chariot that carried them filled her brain. The song was wonderful, new to her, and Heather’s voice was the perfect thing to carry them. It was true that the beginning was a little rocky and Jess could understand that voice, it was a voice with much potential, but as Heather got more confident that shyness faded into brilliance and Jess was blown away.
Jess shook her head as she grabbed Heather’s arms and shook them gently,”That was amazing! Where in the world did you learn to do that?!”
Heather relaxed into the song, letting the familiar words and notes just roll of her tongue and into the open air. Pure excitement filled her at Jess’s amazed voice, and a bit of pride fought its way to the surface. As many times as she had been complimented on her voice, it had never been quite that enthusiastically.
“Thanks, Jess. I just started singing and after a couple months of voice lessons this is what I came out with,” she said with a small shrug. Sometimes Heather forgot that people weren’t always as gifted as she was, and made comments like that. Then she would remember a couple seconds later and kick herself mentally for sounding occasionally conceited.
She couldn’t take it back now, so no use in getting upset over it really. “Okay, okay, enough about me. It’s your turn! Time for you to show off,” Heather said, motioning for Jess to grab the ukulele and sing for her. She was intrigued to find out how the other girl sing, especially after hearing her fuss about her own.
